The Bonfim Ribbons come from the vibrant city of Salvador from Bahia, Brazil. Each ribbon has the sentence ‘Lembrança do Senhor do Bonfim da Bahia’, meaning: souvenir of the Lord of Bahia of good outcome.
They are used wrapped and tied on the wrist with three knots. As each knot is tied a wish is made. Wearing a Bonfim Ribbon represents your goals, wishes and dreams. The wishes are said to come true when the ribbon falls off on its own.
